TESOL Schools in China
in development by Global Education Initiatives ("GEI")

Through a subsidiary company registered in Hong Kong and in collaboration with select universities in China, GEI plans to open a series of TESOL schools in China within the next few years.  The schools will be for the primary and secondary school teachers of English in China to attend.

Our view as to the best way to help the youngsters in China learn English
The objective of the schools is to empower the teachers in China with the latest English teaching methodology and skills.  GEI believes that improving the teachers' proficiency is the best way to help billions of youngsters in China learn English.   According to an estimate, the demand for English teachers in China will exceed one million by year 2006.

Faculty, American English vs. British English
Most of the courses will be taught by TESOL professors recruited from select universities in the United States.  Teaching will be on American English, vs. British English.  Undoubtedly, American English is fast becoming ( if not has yet) the international language of commerce and technology.

Certificate
The schools will offer six weeks of intensive courses in the summer.  The teachers will receive a TESOL certificate after completing the courses.  Select teachers who are qualified may receive credits which they can use toward obtaining a TESOL master degree later on at a participating university in the United States.

Strategic alliance and partnership
GEI currently works closely with a major university in the U.S. to develop a curriculum and to recruit professors for the schools.  GEI plans to invite more universities in the U.S. to participate later on.  GEI works with select universities in China as partners.  The local universities will provide campus, student dormitories, and living quarters for the professors from the U.S.  To develop these schools into a leading TESOL entity, GEI is raising funds to establish grants to support research in TESOL methodology in China.

The advisory board
GEI is honored to have two world leading scholar in TESOL, Professor David Nunan and Professor Jun Liu, serving on its advisory board.  Professor Nunan has published over 100 books and articles.  He was the president of the TESOL organization in the U.S. from 1999 to 2000.
